WATCHER – alerting clinicians to safety signals

WATCHER is an alert system for clinicians and scientists involved in clinical trials. It is an analytical observer of trends and events, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to provide continuous monitoring of incoming safety data, such as liver function tests.  It can recognise abnormal results in individual patients and, using pre-programmed algorithms, can search for other data that might explain the abnormality. WATCHER then alerts trial scientists to its findings so they can take appropriate action. WATCHER operates 24/7, every day of the year, evaluating study data even when a clinician isn͛t using REACT. By articulating information and presenting it in a usable form, WATCHER supports clinical and scientific decision making in critical areas.
